Canadians double up Wildcats 4-2

CHELMSFORD, Ont. – The Rayside-Balfour Canadians got three points apiece from Tristan Simm and Bradey Johnson to help them double the visiting Elliot Lake Wildcats 4-2 Saturday night in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at Chelmsford Arena.

After a scoreless opening frame, Elliot Lake opened the scoring 5:50 into the second period on a Brett Jacklin effort only to see Kris Hamlin tie it for the Canadians with two minutes left in the session.

Heading into the final stanza, Johnson and Simm struck 99 seconds apart to put the home side up by two with 13:14 to play.

Simm added another as he converted on a man advantage opportunity at 15:28 as Rayside-Balfour went up by three.

The Wildcats got one back in the final minute off the stick of Carson Andreoli, but that would be the final goal of the evening before time expired.

Evan Krassey had a pair of assists to aid the Canadians cause.

Owen Johansson made 25 saves to record the win for Rayside-Balfour while Justin Richer faced 41 shots in defeat for Elliot Lake.
