NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forward Nicolas Pigeon (Timmins Rock); goaltender Sean Guerin (Elliot Lake Red Wings) and defenceman Jake Fullerton (Powassan Voodoos) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Nov. 6.

NICOLAS PIGEON, (F) TIMMINS ROCK – The NOJHL’s leader in offensive production tacked on six more points to his league-best total of 34 last week as Timmins skated to triumphs over two of the other top teams in the league, Hearst and Greater Sudbury.

The 20-year-old Rock captain, who is from from Aylmer, Que., set-up the game-winner and also scored versus the Lumberjacks, then had another marker and a trio of helpers in a home ice decision over the first-overall Cubs.

While he paces the NOJHL in points, Pigeon’s 28 assists also lead the way as he enters a new week with nine multi-point performances to his credit.

SEAN GUERIN, (G) ELLIOT LAKE RED WINGS – Getting the starting nod is both of Elliot Lake’s appearances last week, Guerin was solid in each of them, coming away with a pair of victories.

Hailing from Illinois, the 19-year-old Chicago native wrapped up the time frame with a 1.98 goals-against average, along with a save percentage of .951 in wins over Espanola and Blind River. He also picked up an assist in the overtime triumph over the Beavers.

Having won his last four starts, and six of his past seven, Guerin has moved into the Top 10 among NOJHL netminders in both GAA (2.69) and SV% (.920).

JAKE FULLERTON (D) POWASSAN VOODOOS – A solid stay-at-home type defender for the surging Voodoos, Fullerton chalked up three assists, while continuing to do his part defensively, in the two positive decisions Powassan recorded over the time frame to extend their winning streak to seven in succession.

The 18-year-old from nearby North Bay picked up assists on two tying tallies and registered another helper in hard-fought victories over the Soo Thunderbirds and Soo Eagles.

Having yet to lose so far this season when he has etched his name on the game sheet, Fullerton is on pace to set a new single-season best in points.
