Rayside-Balfour rolls over Elliot Lake

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – The Rayside-Balfour Canadians saw their captain Evan Krassey tally twice while goaltender Sebastien Plamondon handled all 17 shots he faced to post his third Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout in a 6-0 triumph over the Elliot Lake Wildcats Saturday evening at Centennial Arena.

First period play saw the Canadians collect the lone marker at 4:25 with Matthew Dokis-Dupuis scoring for a 15th time in 2018-19.

Rayside-Balfour then opened it up in the middle stanza as they striking three times before the frame was six minutes old.

After Krassey picked up his first of the night at 1:17, Brady Maltais notched his 15th during a power play while Joel Mongeon added one at even strength on his next shift to go up by four.

The visitors added to their cushion 8:19 into the third with Krassey picking up his second of the evening and 16th overall before Kyle Liinamaa added his 18th a couple shifts later to wrap things up offensively.

Benjamin Hatanaka chipped in with three assists for the Canadians.

Wildcats starter Dominic Boily suffered the setback allowing the six against on 45 shots while Zion Miceli handled all eight attempts, he saw in just over 10 minutes of relief.
