Serre sensational as Beavers bite Wildcats

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Caleb Serre tallied twice and assisted on two others to play a role in each of his club’s markers Saturday as the Blind River Beavers skated to a 4-2 victory over the Elliot Lake Wildcats in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Saturday at the Blind River Community Centre.

Serre’s first NOJHL goal came just past the eight-minute mark of the first period to give the home side the lead.

Elliot Lake countered with the equalizer however before the frame was complete compliments of Brett Jacklin’s initial league effort which came with 59 seconds left in the session.

Midway through the contest, Blind River went back on top when Zak Lambrecht converted during a man advantage opportunity.

Yianni Liarakos then notched the eventual game-winner with 3:47 left in the second to put the Beavers up by two through 40 minutes.

David Elford’s first of the season 3:12 into the final frame brought Elliot Lake close, but Serre capped off his four-point night with an insurance goal four minutes later to round out the night’s scoring.

Vincent Robbins chipped in with a couple of helpers for Blind River while Damian Figueria did likewise for the Wildcats.

Myles Hektor recorded the win making 28 stops for the Beavers who pumped 52 attempts on Elliot Lake netminder Matt Kostiw.

With the decision Blind River improved to 3-1-0-0 on the season and the Wildcats slipped to 2-3-0-0.
